Why calculate backwards?
By the time you take the National Exam, your Regional Exam and Continuous Assessment grades are already fixed. Instead of calculating the final average afterward, this predictor reverses the formula to show the grade you should target. That is useful for setting a clear goal during your final weeks of revision. For the full formula, see our average calculation guide or our article about Bac honors.
Frequently asked questions
What National Exam grade do I need for honors?
Required National grade = (Target − 0.25 × Regional − 0.25 × Continuous Assessment) ÷ 0.5. The tool applies this reversed formula for Assez Bien (12), Bien (14), and Très Bien (16) using the grades you already know.
Can I still aim for Très Bien with an average Regional Exam grade?
Yes, as long as the required result stays at or below 20, because the National Exam counts for 50% of the final average. For example, with 13 on the Regional Exam and 14 in Continuous Assessment, you need 18.5/20 on the National Exam to reach a 16 average.
Why are the Regional Exam and Continuous Assessment grades already known?
The Regional Exam is taken at the end of the first Bac year, while Continuous Assessment is built throughout the school year. By the National Exam, those 50% of your final average are already fixed.
